Four therapeutic cannabis bills will receive public hearings in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee this Thursday (4/18). The first hearing will begin at 1:15pm in Room 101 of the Legislative Office Building. Here are the four bills:
- 1:15 – HB 1278 (Thomas) would allow therapeutic cannabis certifications for any medical condition or symptom if the provider believes the potential benefits outweigh the risks for the patient.
- 1:30 – HB 1231 (Thomas) would permit qualifying patients and designated caregivers to cultivate cannabis for therapeutic use.
- 1:45 – HB 1349 (Howard) would add generalized anxiety disorder as a qualifying condition for therapeutic cannabis.
- 2:00 – HB 1581 (Vail) would allow ATCs to operate a second cultivation location, which could be a greenhouse. (Currently, New Hampshire ATCs may only grow indoors, which contributes to higher costs for therapeutic cannabis.)
The committee will allow members of the public to speak on any of these bills. The chair may limit each person’s testimony to approximately three minutes. Although the hearings are scheduled in 15-minute increments, the committee will usually listen to testimony from all who sign up.
If you can’t attend the hearings in person, it only takes a minute to sign in remotely and indicate your support.

Thank you for taking time to read about these bills that would improve our program. We would rather share beautiful cannabis photos than updates on the workings of government, but these bills are very important and we want to make sure patients know about these hearings!
