Last month, we launched the first live rosin products in the history of New Hampshire’s Therapeutic Cannabis Program. Our solventless live rosin budder and vapes have been a big hit with patients, and now we’ve added a new solventless concentrate: live rosin jam!
This product is similar to our live rosin budder, but the curing process is different, resulting in a somewhat different consistency.
Budder or Jam: What’s the Difference?
To produce our live rosin budder, we cold-cure the rosin we’ve created from fresh-frozen cannabis flowers. (See our previous blog to learn more about our solventless extraction process.) Curing the live rosin at a cold temperature preserves the terpenes and usually results in a a thick, dough-like texture that is easy to work with.
Our live rosin jam begins with the same rosin made from fresh-frozen cannabis flowers. However, instead of cold-curing it, we gently heat the live rosin in a sealed container to partially decarboxylate it. This causes extra THCA crystallization and some separation of the terpenes, and the finished product typically resembles a wet sugar or a sugary sauce. If you look closely, you will likely be able to see the small THCA crystals in this product.
Note: please do not spread this “budder” or “jam” on toast! If you’re not familiar with cannabis concentrates, visit this page to learn more about them and how to use them.
