Why Try Fast-Acting Edibles?
Traditional cannabis edibles work very well for many patients, but there are a few potential downsides:
- Some individuals require very high doses of edible THC to receive an effect, and others report experiencing no effect at any dose.
- The slow onset of traditional edibles can present challenges for accurate dosing.
- When we consume traditional edibles, our livers convert the THC into a different molecule called “11-hydroxy-THC,” which some patients find beneficial while others do not.
Fast-acting edibles offer some important potential advantages over traditional edibles:
- Patients who do not receive the desired effect from traditional edibles may have a much better experience with fast-acting edibles.
- The faster onset means patients don’t have to wait long periods for relief.
- Most of the THC in fast-acting edibles is absorbed by the soft tissues of the mouth and esophagus, so only a small amount makes it through the digestive system to be converted into 11-hydroxy-THC. (This explains why the effects may be more similar to the effects of inhaling Delta-9 THC.)

The Science Behind Our Fast Acting Fruit Chews
To create these exciting new products at GraniteLeaf Cannabis, we have partnered with Azuca, a company founded by a chef who became an expert in cannabis infusions. The science behind Azuca’s products is called TiME (Thermodynamic individual Molecular Encapsulation) INFUSION®. We make our fast-acting edibles using a special ingredient called CX TiME INFUSION ACTIVATOR®, a proprietary blend of plant-derived modified food starches and gums.
The process and ingredients create a hydrophilic (water-friendly) coating around the cannabinoids, enabling them to be absorbed by the soft tissues in the mouth and esophagus.
