Frequently Asked Questions
Qualifying for Therapeutic Cannabis in New Hampshire
Who can purchase cannabis in New Hampshire?
Access to New Hampshire dispensaries is limited to qualified patients and caregivers who are registered with the state’s Therapeutic Cannabis Program and visiting patients who are registered with a medical cannabis program in another U.S. state or Canada.
Do I need a therapeutic cannabis card to purchase cannabis?
Yes. New Hampshire residents with qualifying medical conditions must register with the Therapeutic Cannabis Program to receive their therapeutic cannabis card before accessing dispensaries. Visiting patients must bring their therapeutic cannabis card (or equivalent) and a government-issued ID.
How do I qualify for the therapeutic cannabis program?
A medical provider must certify that you have a qualifying medical condition or symptom. A complete list of qualifying symptoms and conditions is available here.
What medical providers can certify N.H. patients?
Certifying medical providers must be licensed in New Hampshire or a neighboring state. The following types of providers are authorized to certify patients:
- Physicians
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)
- Physician Assistants
- Dentists (NH only)
- Podiatrists (NH only)
- Optometrists (NH only)
- Naturopathic Doctors (NH only)
What if my doctor is unwilling or unable to sign my certification?
If your medical provider is unable or unwilling to certify patients, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We maintain a list of medical providers who are willing to certify qualified patients, and we would be happy to share it with you upon request.
Can I grow my own plants in New Hampshire?
Under current New Hampshire laws, growing cannabis at home is still a criminal offense. GraniteLeaf Cannabis strongly supports making home cultivation a legal option, at least for registered patients and caregivers.
Visiting a GraniteLeaf Cannabis Dispensary
What is my first step after I receive my Therapeutic Cannabis card?
After you receive your therapeutic cannabis card, you are welcome to visit our dispensary locations in Chichester (near Concord) or Merrimack. If you are new to therapeutic cannabis, we strongly recommend that you call or email us to schedule a consultation before making your first purchases. Our knowledgeable staff would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss your use of therapeutic cannabis and answer any questions you might have. Consultations are not required, but they are recommended, especially for new patients.
Do I have more paperwork to fill out?
Before you make your first purchase, some paperwork is required. We will also scan copies of your therapeutic cannabis card and a form of government issued identification like a driver’s license, passport, or military ID card. Then you will be free to begin making purchases.
Do I need to bring my therapeutic cannabis card and additional photo ID every visit?
Yes, we need these to verify you are a registered patient or caregiver.
What if I need assistance with purchasing or using therapeutic cannabis?
If you need assistance, you may designate someone you trust to be your caregiver. There is no fee to apply. The designated caregiver will be issued a card authorizing them to legally purchase and possess cannabis on your behalf.
What happens if my card expires?
Without a valid therapeutic cannabis card, you are not legally permitted to purchase or possess cannabis in the state of New Hampshire. If your card expires, or will be expiring soon, you will need to send in a renewal application to the Department of Health and Human Services. Renewals may be issued for up to three years at the discretion of your medical provider.

How much can I purchase at once?
New Hampshire law allows patients to purchase two ounces (56.70g) of cannabis during a 10 day period. This is referred to as your “allotment.” It is not legal for patients to purchase or possess cannabis in excess of two ounces.
How is the “allotment” determined for non-flower products?
For non-flower products, 1g of useable allotment is equal to 250mg TAC (Total Active Cannabinoids). These values are displayed for each product on our menus and product labels.
What methods of payment can I use?
GraniteLeaf Cannabis accepts cash and debit cards ($3.50 fee per $500), and we have an ATM available in the lobby ($2.50 fee per $300). We also accept CanPay, a debit payment app that works from your phone. These are the only forms of payment accepted.

Questions Regarding GraniteLeaf Cannabis Products
Are all GraniteLeaf Cannabis products made in New Hampshire?
All GraniteLeaf Cannabis products are cultivated and produced at our production facility in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Our production facility was featured in the Keene Sentinel on July 11, 2023.
Are all GraniteLeaf Cannabis products tested by an independent lab?
Yes! New Hampshire law requires that every batch of every therapeutic cannabis product must be tested by an independent lab for potency and possible contaminants.
Why do we list cannabinoids and terpenes on packaging?
There is much more to cannabis than just THC, so our product labels include the cannabinoids and terpenes that show up during lab testing. The terpenes are important for the smell and taste of a product and for the effects and therapeutic benefits.
Why do you use the words “daytime,” “nighttime,” and “anytime” to describe products?
We label some of our products as “daytime,” “nighttime,” or “anytime” so patients will be aware of the product’s most common effects. “Daytime” products are made from sativa-dominant strains and tend to be more energizing and uplifting. “Nighttime” products are made from indica-dominant strains and tend to be more relaxing and calming. “Anytime” products contain a combination of THC and CBD, resulting in less intoxication.
What is the difference between full spectrum and distillate vapes?
Full spectrum vapes are created from one specific cultivar of cannabis, and they typically still retain that cultivar’s unique taste and smell. Distillate vapes are made from a blend of strains with terpenes added for flavor, so they may taste and smell less like cannabis.
Why do we use the word “cannabis” instead of “marijuana” to describe this plant?
Many words have been used to describe cannabis throughout the era of its prohibition, but the scientific name for the plant is Cannabis sativa. We choose to use the word “cannabis” instead of slang terms such as “marijuana,” “weed,” or “pot,” because we believe this remarkable plant deserves to be called by its scientific name under most circumstances.
Can I take too much cannabis at once?
Although there is no risk of fatal overdose with cannabis, it is certainly possible to consume too much, which may result in an unpleasant experience. Everyone is unique and patients all tolerate cannabis products differently, so listen to your body as you attempt to find the dosage that works best for you. If you are new to cannabis, we strongly recommend that you “start low and go slow” to find a dose that will relieve your symptoms without producing unwelcome side-effects.
