Many floor amendments have been filed for HB 1633 in anticipation of today’s Senate vote. Most of the amendments are hostile, but one is positive!
Amendment 2024-1975s (sponsored by Senators Shannon Chandley, Becky Whitley, and Cindy Rosenwald) includes four provisions, and all would substantially improve the bill. Here are the provisions:
- Limits licensing to one cannabis establishment of any single category to prevent the market from being dominated by a tiny number of wealthy individuals or “Big Marijuana” companies.
- Adds priority licensing for ATCs and other New Hampshire businesses.
- Removes the new criminal penalty for 2nd offense public use, returning it to a violation (Note: the fine would be capped at $500, currently $100 under the decrim law).
- Adds comprehensive non-discrimination language.
Please consider emailing and/or calling your senator right now and urging them to support these provisions! The vote will take place TODAY, so don’t delay!
Here, again, are our tips and talking points for effective communication with senators.
After all amendments have been debated and voted on, the Senate will vote on the bill itself.
This is shaping up to be a very eventful and impactful day in the Senate. Thanks to all who have contacted senators so far. Please consider doing so one last time so they know we’re paying close attention to the amendment process!
