Would you rappel down a 24-story building for a great cause? Well, that’s exactly what two of our awesome GraniteLeaf team members will be doing on Tuesday, June 23! Alicia and Steve have both bravely volunteered to participate in the United Way’s “Over the Edge” event on behalf of two of our awesome Community Outreach partners: AFSP NH and ABLE NH, and we look forward to cheering them on as they descend the Brady Sullivan Tower in Manchester.
GraniteLeaf is delighted to be supporting both of their fundraising campaigns with a $1,000 donation to each. If you’d like to join us in supporting their courageous efforts, please feel free to contribute and share this blog with others!
Alicia, Going “Over the Edge” for ABLE NH
Alicia is our Education and Outreach Coordinator, and she will be rappelling on behalf of ABLE NH, a disability rights organization based in Concord. Her rappel is scheduled for around 9 am.
Alicia’s journey with therapeutic cannabis began while she was a college student battling sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Ten years ago, she underwent surgery that successfully removed the cancer but also required the removal of her right arm and shoulder. Today, Alicia lives with several physical challenges that limit her ability to perform everyday tasks and cause ongoing symptoms, for which she continues to use cannabis therapeutically.
Alicia is proud to support ABLE NH’s mission by raising funds through “Over the Edge” and is excited to become the first arm amputee to participate in the event. Visit her fundraising page here!
Steve, Going “Over the Edge” for AFSP NH
Steve is our Brand Manager, and he is also responsible for all of our awesome photography and graphic designs. He will be rappelling on behalf of the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP NH). His rappel is scheduled for 11am.
Steve has witnessed the impact of therapeutic cannabis firsthand as a caregiver for his wife and has developed a deep appreciation for the importance of compassion, support, and community. He recognizes that everyone faces challenges at some point in life and that fostering connection and supporting one another are essential parts of suicide prevention.
Since joining the GraniteLeaf team in 2023, Steve has become a passionate advocate for patient education and community outreach. He looks forward to joining Alicia as they both go “Over the Edge” Visit his fundraising page here!
