Initial Goal Reached, Raffle to Eliminate More Medical Debts!

Raffle to win Northlands tickets, supporting Undue Medical Debt

Great News: we have achieved an important milestone in our ongoing campaign to eliminate medical debts in New Hampshire! We’ve reached our initial goal, raising enough funding to wipe out $1.98 million in medical debts for residents of Merrimack County in partnership with Undue Medical Debt.

Next, we are turning our attention to Hillsborough County and incentivizing donations from community members and local businesses with a raffle of tickets to the 2026 Northlands Music Festival, which will take place in Swanzey June 19-21. Online donors will be eligible for one raffle ticket for every $5 donated.

  • 1st Prize: 2 VIP Weekend Passes
  • 2nd & 3rd Prize: 2 General Admission Weekend Passes

Throughout February and March, GraniteLeaf collected $3,349 in donations at our dispensaries in Chichester and Merrimack. The company matched these donations and added an extra $3,015 to reach the Merrimack County goal of $9,713. The campaign will continue to accept tax-deductible donations online for Hillsborough County until the end of April. Undue Medical Debt branded envelopes informing recipients that some or all of their medical debt has been erased will begin arriving after the campaign ends.

Nationally, more than 100 million people are burdened by medical debt to the tune of $220 billion. This includes about 1 in every 9 people in New Hampshire. The average person with medical debt in collections in Hillsborough County carries a balance of over $1,100

More About Undue Medical Debt

Undue Medical Debt is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2014 by former debt collectors. To date Undue has acquired — and abolished — over $40 billion of burdensome medical debt, helping over 27 million families and addressing a major social determinant of health. Undue purchases debts for a fraction of their face value in bundled portfolios and partners with individuals, faith-based organizations, local and state governments, foundations and corporations to empower donors by converting every dollar contributed into $100 of medical debt relief on average.

Medical debt relief is source-based, meaning only qualifying debts sourced from provider partners like hospitals or collection agencies can be erased. Therefore debt relief cannot be requested and individuals are notified by mail out of the blue. The criteria for debt relief are income-based. Debt relief recipients must be four times (400%) or below the federal poverty level or have medical debt that is 5% or more of their annual income.
